In the past there has been plenty of theories about the new world order, the Illuminati or the enlightened ones (or whatever you prefer to call them). Shadow Government is a reality-based simulation game that offers gamers the chance to shape the future of the US, by assuming some of their accumulated power. Will that power be used for good or evil? That's up to you when Shadow Government is released later this year.
The game by Playmatics is described as a "dynamic and mysterious game..... Using real world events to develop the game, Shadow Government blurs the lines between reality, government and entertainment."
The events of the game are decided by the T21 simulation model (something that has been developed over 20 years of extensive research by the Millennium Institute using data from the World Bank, UN agencies, the governments of developing countries and non-governmental organisations). The simulator predicts the impact a policy decision might have on a nation, and shows how different strategies can manipulated to obtain the desired results.
"Our developers have been working with the Millennium Institute to integrate and mimic the real world more closely than ever attempted in a video game - and neatly squeezing all that into an iOS app-sized package," said Margaret Wallace, CEO of Playmatics and project lead on Shadow Government USA. "Needless to say, the game has meat."
The title will enter into the closed-beta phase at this years Game Developers Conference, where it will be seen by the public for the first time.
