Just yesterday Gamereactor reported that P.T. - Silent Hills' Playable Teaser - will be removed from the PlayStation Store later this week, causing us to wonder whether this was the first sign that the survival horror game might have been cancelled.

Horror fans' worst fears have since been realised with confirmation seemingly coming from one of the parties involved, director Guillermo del Toro, during the San Francisco International Film Festival. In response to a question about Silent Hills he replied as follows: "It's not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart."

That might have pointed to del Toro's part in the project being over, but actor Norman Reedus has since confirmed that the project has been cancelled, Tweeting: "Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll come back around. Sorry everyone."

While there has been no official confirmation from Konami, it would appear that Silent Hills is dead in the water.
