South Korean studio Shift Up, best known for the action-adventure game Stellar Blade, has made a move and acquired Unbound, the studio founded a few years ago by industry legend Shinji Mikami, the man who brought Resident Evil to the world.

Unbound may be relatively new on paper, but the team working there is certainly not a bunch of rookies; consisting of some highly skilled talent who've previously worked on titles such as Resident Evil, Devil May Cry,, and Hi-Fi Rush, they are now hard at work on a new blockbuster game for PC and consoles.

Shift Up CEO Hyung-Tae Kim said the following in a press release:

"I find it deeply meaningful to join forces with UNBOUND, which brings together a world-class development team led by CEO Shinji Mikami. This acquisition will serve as an opportunity to deliver the best gaming experience to users worldwide and further solidify SHIFT UP's global development competitiveness"

The acquisition is clearly a strategic move for Shift Up, which, according to previous reports, has ambitions to become a publisher itself, and with Mikami on board, they have secured one of the industry's greatest legends of all-time.
