A Russian military transport plane has crashed in Crimea, killing all 29 people on board, according to the country's defence ministry.

The aircraft, identified as an Antonov An-26, went down after losing communication, reportedly crashing into a cliff on the Black Sea peninsula. Authorities said the victims included 23 passengers and 6 crew members.

Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, has been a key strategic location since the start of the war in Ukraine.

Russian state news agencies cited an initial assessment suggesting technical problems may have caused the crash, though no official confirmation has been provided, and no survivors have been reported.
