Turns out you really can bounce back from one of the most lambasted television finales in the history of the medium. Game of Thrones Season 8 had fans swearing they'd never want to return to Westeros, but with recent hits on the television front, and plans for a big franchise still on the cards, Warner Bros. is going to make liars out of all of us.

How's it going to do that? Well, it's going to drag us to the cinema to see the Game of Thrones movie, of course. There has been speculation on a potential film set in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, with rumours pointing to it being centred around the conquest of Aegon I. TheWrap does not confirm whether that's the plot we'll see come to the big screen, but we do have the screenwriter confirmed.

Beau Willimon, the writer of Andor and showrunner of House of Cards, will be creating the script for the Game of Thrones movie. With us only having a screenwriter confirmed, it's safe to say this project is in the early stages of development. Soon enough, we're sure to hear more about where/when it's set, and who we could see star.
