Rodrygo Goes has suffered a terrible knee injury, and will be out for most of 2026. After rumblings on Tuesday morning, following Real Madrid's defeat to Getafe, Real Madrid confirmed that the 25-year-old Brazilian player has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn lateral meniscus in his right leg.

The injury happened during Monday's game at the Bernabéu, when Rodrygo landed awkwardly in the 66th minute, but he still finished the match. After medical tests, the injury was confirmed, and some estimate he will be out for ten or twelve months. That means missing the rest of the season with Real Madrid, likely missing part of next season, maybe not returning until 2027... and almost certainly missing World Cup with Brazil, which starts in three months.

It remains to be seen whether he already had a complete tear or if continuing to play aggravated a minor injury, it may be difficult to determine, because during the rest of the game he played with relative normalcy.

Rodrygo's injury ends prematirily a season in which he played much less than usual, starting in only 10 of 40 games for Real Madrid, only playing 31% of the minutes, according to AS. He scored three goals and provided six assists.
