Floyd Mayweather announces new bout to take place before Pacquiao fight

When boxing legend Floyd Mayweather announced his comeback to boxing, the wishes of many were fulfilled when a rematch against Manny Pacquiao was confirmed for September, 11 years after the so-called "Fight of the Century" which Mayweather won by unanimous decision.

Mayweather, now 48 years old, who retired from boxing in 2017, has kept in shape in some exhibition matches, and he has confirmed he will have another exhibition bout before the Pacquiao fight in Septemner. Mayweather will challenge Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis (45) in Athens in June.

"2026 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for me. I'm on the way to entertain!! Athens, Greece... Get Ready For An All Out Exhibition. This summer will be a legendary battle", Mayweather announced on Instagram.

Mayweather has challenged fighters from other fight disciplines before, including his last professional bout, against mixed martial artist Conor McGregor, whom he knocked out in 2017. It will be an exhibition match to prepare against the fight against Pacquiao on September 19, at the Las Vegas Sphere, a match that will be broadcast in Netflix.
