Before it released back in 2024, we knew that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II wouldn't be offering new content as part of its paid DLC. The only thing you could spend extra money on would be cosmetics, and while that might sound great on paper, even purely optional DLC can still create some controversy.
The game's first voice pack, which gives you three heads and voice lines for the Blood Angels, Black Templars, and Space Wolves Space Marine Chapters, has fallen afoul of Space Marine II's fanbase. Currently, the DLC sits at just 16% positive reviews on Steam, and as per IGN people are not happy with the changes it brings.
Once you buy the voice pack DLC, you can't change the game's voices back to the way they were before. Also, there's apparently a lack of Chapter-specific dialogue, and squad banter is practically non-existent.
On the one hand, this does suck for anyone who just wanted some additional voices, and yet on the other this is a purely optional purchase. Fans might be pointing to it as an apparent cash grab, but as with most of gaming, if you don't like it, just vote with your wallet.
