After 28 Years Later proved to be one of horror's big success stories last year, it seemed like the zombie franchise was back. However, following the poor box office performance of the sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, it seems that the third and final movie in the trilogy is not as secure as it once was.
Cillian Murphy, who originally broke out with his performance as Jim in 28 Days Later, was meant to be returning for the third film. When asked by The Times if the film would be made, Murphy said: "Hope so! I'm ready anyway."
It's not the most detailed response, but it does seem like not even one of the stars of the third 28 Years Later film knows what's going on with it. There's hope that it gets made, but with 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple's box office flop, it's difficult to tell. After appearing briefly at the end of the second movie, Murphy's character of Jim was meant to play a much larger role in the sequel. That could be enough of a pull to bring people back in, if the film does make its way to cinemas.
