Here are the best Dreamcast titles according to fans

Dreamcast only lasted 1 year and 6 months in Europe before the cancellation, but still had an almost shocking amount of exclusive quality titles.

Yesterday, we reported that Switch 2 actually has a greater number of exclusive games after less than a year on the market than PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X combined after five and a half years on the market. Quite simply, this generation is rather lacking in that regard, but that has certainly not always been the case.

Take Dreamcast, for example. It only lasted around two years (in the West, not even that), but it had an absolutely outstanding library of superb games, many of which were exclusive. In recent weeks, the largest Dreamcast group on Reddit, with nearly 100,000 members, has voted on the format's best games - and it makes for really tasty reading.

The games are ranked in a number of different categories and divided into best, second best, third best, and fourth best (in a category called "Give 'em their flowers"). Although some of the games were later released in other formats when Dreamcast went bankrupt, most were still exclusive at launch. We should also mention that games could only win one category in each round.

The list includes big-name winners such as Sonic Adventure as best platform game, Resident Evil - Code: Veronica as best horror game, Skies of Arcadia as best J-RPG, Soul Calibur as best fighting game, and Virtua Tennis as best sports games - but also smaller titles such as Chu Chu Rocket in the best puzzle game category, Samba de Amigo as best rhythm game, and Ikaruga as best shoot 'em up. And the winner of the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) category was... Shenmue II.

Check out the lists below, which are packed with heavyweights and exclusives. An almost unbelievable amount for a console that had such a short life span as the Dreamcast.

Which Dreamcast games did you like best and what did you think of the short-lived console?
