Flavio Cobolli defeated Frances Tiafoe at the Mexican Open final on Sunday, 7-6(4), 6-4, and claimed his third ATP title, following the ATP 250 in Bucharest and the ATP 500 in Hamburg, and breaking into ATP Top 15 for the first time. The 23-year-old Italian, who helped his country win their third Davis Cup in a row last year, jumps from 20th to 15th as the ATP rankings were updated on Monday, improving his previous best rank of world no. 17.
The ATP ranking also changed with Ben Shelton improving one and swapping places with Felix Auger-Aliassime (8th and 9th), and with Cobolli's rise, Alejando Davidovich Fokina drops five places to World No. 19.
Cobolli, the third best Italian player after Jannik Sinner (2nd) and Lorenzo Musetti (5th) secures the 15th seed at Indian Wells 2026, the tournament that starts this week, although his debut wouldn't be until next weekend, depending on the draw tonight.
