The first MotoGP race of the season ended with another dominant run by Marco Bezzecchi, who has now won three Grand Prix in a row (counting the Portugal and Valencia GP from last season), finishing over five seconds ahead of Pedro Acosta in the Thai Grand Prix.
However, it is Pedro Acosta the one leading the standings after one race, due to his better result in sprint race and his comeback, from sixth place to second, in Sunday's race at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram. Raúl Fernández was third and Jorge Martín, recovered from the series of injuries last season, was fourth in the first MotoGP without a Ducati bike in the podium since the British GP in 2021, after 89 races.
Marc Márquez, champion last year, only took 9 points from the sprint race, while last year's runner-up Álex Márquez suffered a fall and starts the MotoGP 2026 season with 0 points.
MotoGP continues in two weeks, with the Brazil GP on March 22.
