Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe is still likely a while away, but apparently it could be the shot of adrenaline one of Ubisoft's biggest franchises could need. The game is shaping up very well, according to insider Tom Henderson, who also dropped some new details on its combat, release window, and potential story cameos.
Speaking on the Insider Gaming podcast recently (via GamingBolt), Henderson explained that the game will completely overhaul the usual Assassin's Creed combat. Ubisoft has apparently hired contortionists to do the motion capture for the combat, which will allow for much more acrobatic fighting.

Moreover, the new protagonist, Elsa, is going to get some help from a beloved former protagonist somewhere down the line. At least in the draft Henderson was privy to, Elsa will have an encounter with none other than Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who allegedly teaches her the ropes of being an assassin somewhere around the midway point. Elsa will also have witch-like powers, but they won't necessarily be her main combat skills.
Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe is prepping for a holiday release in 2027, which means it's well over a year away if Henderson's information is accurate. It means that we'd be without a new Assassin's Creed game in 2026, but with so many strong titles releasing this holiday season, we can see why Ubisoft wants another year.
