Fans regularly argue about which DC universe is best after Zack Snyder's version was shelved in favour of a new one led by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Angry and aggressive comments are thrown around about which Superman they prefer, and everything is criticised.
That said, Zack Snyder and James Gunn are good friends who worked together on the acclaimed 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead, among other things. They've often been seen on each other's social media, have confirmed that they are regularly talking, and last year they both appeared in a meta-ironic portrait in an episode of Rick and Morty. However, this has not calmed the most toxic fans, and perhaps that is why Snyder is now commenting on the controversy by praising Gunn and the new Superman.
This is what Snyder said when he recently appeared on the podcast Happy, Sad, Confused:
"James' Superman, which is amazing and all the best to them, and I can't wait to see the next movie, and it's just awesome."
But he didn't stop there. When asked if there is anything special and unique he likes about Gunn's work, Snyder replied:
"Of course, James is singular in his storytelling, in his ability to channel mythological and pop culture into what I would consider just iconic and very particular point of view that's both poignant and funny.
"He's the best at it that I can think of, and I think that he's a great steward of that world. So, you know, that's good. That's great for fans."

That said, we obviously have no illusion that the fans will calm down about it, but you can always hope. It is actually possible to like both the Snyderverse and the new DCU, believe it or not.
The Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow premieres in July 2027, but we will already get to see David Corenswet as Superman again in June when Supergirl hits theatres.
