It has been revealed the Namco Bandai has secured the publishing rights for the video game tie-in of 2013's Star Trek movie.
The JJ Abrams movie proved popular with audiences and Namco have obviously identified it as an IP with huge potential. The game is being developed by Digital Extremes (of Dark Sector fame) and was announced last year.
Namco's Carlson Choi said: "Working with Paramount Pictures and Digital Extremes reinforces Namco Bandai Games' commitment of expanding its portfolio to include triple-A western developed games in addition to its popular and well-respected Japanese franchises. Digital Extremes' attention to detail, and the collaboration with Paramount Pictures and the team at Bad Robot Interactive will create an authenticity that is sure to thrill Star Trek fans and gamers alike."
According to early reports the game will feature a stand-alone story and players will be able to play as either Kirk or Spock. We'll bring you more details when we have them.
