Eintracht Frankfurt paid a beautiful tribute to Diogo Jota, the Portuguese football player from Liverpool who tragically passed away with his brother in a car accident in Spain last July. Jota was a loved figure in Liverpool and the Portuguese team, and his sudden death left their teammates and colleagues shocked and devastated.
On Wednesday, Eintracht Frankfurt hosted a Champions League game against Liverpool, as part of the league stage. And the German club had the poignant detail of adding Jota's name and number in the screens showing the list of substitutes of the team, written in blue.

The match ended up being a success for Liverpool, which broke a record of four defeats in a row, three in Premier League and the prior Champions League match. Despite Frankfurt taking the lead, Liverpool responded with five goals by Ekitike, van Dijk, Konaté, Gakpo, and Szoboszlai.
The victory leaves Liverpool 10th with 6 points, and Frankfurt 22nd with 3 points in the Champions League table. As a reminder, teams need to finish in the top 8 to qualify for round of 16, and between 9-24 to play a knock-out playoff.
