The tale of Lucasarts' attempts of bringing Star Wars Battlefront III to the world is a long and sordid one. Free Radical Design were working on it, but were taken off the project, something that almost killed off the developer completely (Crytek came in and saved parts of it). Now a href="http://www.vg247.com/2012/02/07/more-battlefront-3-development-rumors-surface-thanks-to-spark-unlimited-job-listing-and-resumes/#more-231995">VG247</a> report on strong rumours that Spark Unlimited (Call of Duty: Finest Hour, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Legendary) are working on it and that it will be announced officially in 2012.
According to Spark Unlimited's home page they are working on two unannounced projects.
"We are in FULL PRODUCTION of a high-profile, popular game property for a major publishing partner. With the public disclosure expected sometime in 2012, we are looking for innovative and creative professionals to bring to life a Triple-A game for an awaiting, highly critical audience. Employing agile techniques (SCRUM) we are developing this product utilizing our experiences with the Unreal engine."
"We started PRE-PRODUCTION in November 2011 to develop a breakout game based on an established console franchise. We are looking for innovative professionals to be members of a core creative team to bring to the console and PC markets a bold new take on 3rd Person Action/Horror genre."
The second game has been rumoured to be a new Resident Evil commissioned by Capcom, while the first game may very well be Star Wars Battlefront III.
Last year Spark Unlimited tweeted: "Publisher hasn't stated when or where the announcement will take place. The time and place could be close or far, far away."
Meanwhile they have confirmed that they are working on a sci-fi franchise and that's it's a third person action adventure through various linked in profiles and job ads.
