The soap opera starring Aleksander Isak, Newcastle, and Liverpool has ended. Liverpool has finally agreed on a new record-breaking transfer fee for the Sweden striker, agreeing to pay £125m for the 25-year-old, an increase of £15 from the initial offer that Liverpool rejected in August. On the last day of the market, Isak, who said to feel betrayed by Newcastle after the initial offer was rejected, can finally rest as he knows he will not have to face a season being hates by Newcastle fans.

While the deal has not yet been announced, several outlets including BBC confirmed that both clubs had agreed on what will be the most expensive signing ever for a footballer in Premier League (£125m equals to €144m, but it could reach €150m including add-ons).

That makes it the third most expensive transfer ever, after PSG's signings of Neymar (€220m) and Mbappé (€180m).

Earlier this summer, Liverpool paid over £100m for Florian Wirtz, which nearly broke the record in English football. Alongside Isak and Wirtz, Liverpool bought Hugo Ekitike, Kerkez, Frimpong, and Leoni, spending nearly half a billion pounds in players, to make up for the exits of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Díaz, and Darwin Núñez.
