According to FCC documents found by SonyInsider the processor that powers the new PSP Go clocks in at 480 MHz, significantly higher than previous PSP models that featured a 333 MHz processor (and that was initially locked at 222 MHz). What this increased processing power is meant for is unclear for now, perhaps future PSP games will be able to make use of it and perhaps we will see an improved performance in certain older titles. It is also reasonable to believe that the increased capacity will be used for PSP Go specific features. It could also be that Sony will lock the processor at 333 MHz and that the improved capacity will be unlocked through a firmware update at a later date.
