Gaikai's David Perry has revealed that the cloud gaming service are preparing to roll out full game streaming in just a matter of months.

Cloud gaming is currently the purview of OnLive, but Perry explained in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz that Gaikai has an advantage over their main rival: "There's a very big difference between the way we're doing it and the way OnLive is doing it. They have to modify the game, they have to get the source code to the game. Gaikai doesn't require modification of the game."

He also added: "The whole structure of Gaikai is about not touching the code. When we show World of Warcraft it's the real thing, it's not like we had to go and tweak it to get it to work. That means that every game in history remains compatible with our solution."

The next step for Gaikai is Facebook, with the company ready to put cloud gaming directly onto the social networking site. It will be interesting to see just what games they will be able to offer and how the service will run. But whatever happens, with innovative companies like OnLive and Gaikai pioneering this new technology, it looks like cloud gaming is here to stay.
