Yes, you read that headline right. Tesla, the car manufacturer, is suing the Swedish state through the Swedish Transport Agency. The lawsuit was filed this Monday, and according to Wired, it was created due to an ongoing dispute between union members and the company.

Union members were refusing to deliver license plates, effectively blocking Tesla from selling new cars in Sweden. Now the Norrköping district court has said that Tesla should be able to circumvent the existing rules and manage its own license plate distribution.

This controversy began when Tesla refused to sign a collective agreement regarding pay and workers' rights, which angered union bosses. They are worried this could set a new precedent where things like working hours, minimum pay and more are controlled by companies.

More unions are joining in the action against Tesla. The Swedish Transport Agency has yet to respond, but it has 14 days to do so.
