Recently we reported that it seemed Connie Booth - the PlayStation Head of Production who had served in the role for 34 years - had left the company. This news was first broken by David Jaffe, who has since given us an update in a new video.
Jaffe first confirms that Booth was fired, which he believes is "insane" considering the influence she had. Moreover, it is believed either her team was fired along with her or they left in protest. The reasoning behind Connie's departure appears to be the "pivot to games as a service," which Booth wasn't happy about.
With the cancellation or the putting on ice of The Last of Us Multiplayer project, this essentially acted as the final straw, which left a lot of the blame to be placed on Booth. It seems like PlayStation has had a bit of a mess on its hands, as it's also reported that tensions began way back when Jim Ryan announced that the company would move more towards games as a service.
