The new and slim version of the Playstation 5 that Sony showed a short time ago will, just like its slightly larger predecessor, be available in two different versions, with and without a disc reader. However, information has now emerged that indicates that an internet connection will be required if you want to upgrade the digital version with the disc reader that will be sold separately.

The information comes from a user on X who posted pictures of the box for the new console, and many are now speculating that this is a way for Sony to verify the authenticity of the disc player. A bit nicer is the release date, which has also been leaked and suggests that the slimmed down version of the Playstation 5 will be released in the US on the 10th of November. Which hopefully means that the release is also imminent for the rest of the world.

Are you planning to get the new slimline Playstation 5, and if so, which version?
