Back in November, Santa Monica Studio revealed God of War: Ragnarök had become the fastest selling PlayStation Studios game ever by surpassing 5.1 million copies its first week. Incredibly impressive, so many questioned if Marvel's Spider-Man 2 would be able to beat it, especially with the latter being a PlayStation 5-exclusive while Kratos' latest adventure can be played on both PS4 and PS5. Turns out, Insomniac's newly released game obliterates that record.
Because Insomniac says that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 sold more than 2.5 million copies in just 24 hours when it launched on Friday, making it the fastest selling PlayStation Studios game in history. This obviously means it'll more than likely sell far more than 5.1 million by this Friday, so it'll be interesting to see how many more copies the PS5-exclusive will be able to sell in a week than God of War: Ragnarök did.
This also shows that digital sales are so much higher that physical these days, as Marvel's Spider-Man 2 continued the trend of selling fewer physical copies than both its predecessor and Ragnarök.
