During Sunday there was a lot of buzz building on gaming forums about a possible bankruptcy for publisher THQ (responsible for Saints Row, UFC titles and Homefront to name a few franchises). According to these rumours the publisher only remains in a last attempt to find a new buyer and publish games that are close to being finished, while all other projects have been cancelled (set for release later than 2013).

It all began when respected industry figure Kevin Dent tweeted that THQ had cancelled the upcoming MMO Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online. He also stated that THQ had given back some Disney licenses without refund.

However, THQ were quick to deny the reports:

"THQ has not cancelled its 2014 line-up, and has not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO," said THQ spokesperson Angela Emery told Gamasutra on Sunday evening.

"As part of the ongoing review of our business, we have made decisions to ensure that the company is strategically addressing the most attractive markets," she added. "As we have previously announced, we have dramatically reduced our commitment to the kids' boxed games sector which leads to a significantly more focused release schedule moving forward."

As it looks now, things are a bit shaky for THQ and they may possibly be looking for a buyer. Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online seems to be in jeopardy, but other than that THQ are continuing to operate as before. For now at least.
