Atari and Cryptic Studios have delayed the launch of superhero MMO Champions Online from the previously announced date (July 14) to September 1 (North America) and September 4 (Europe). This is the latest of a string of bad news that has come from Atari recently, but let us hope that the delay will make for a better product at launch.
"It is critically important for an MMO to be as good as it possibly can be at launch. Through our constant dialogue with our vocal and supportive community of beta testers, we quickly realized that in order to implement certain features that we all considered important the development of Champions Online would require more time. So that's what we're going to give it. Cryptic has a proven track record of releasing solid games and we want to maintain that with Champions Online."
The delay only applies to the PC version of the game, the Xbox 360 version has no solid date as of yet and is not being worked on full force until the PC game has launched.
