The end is nigh for PlayStation Portable. As Sony Japan announced on its official website (via Polygon), the company will cease PSP shipments from this June.

The same fate has already affected the handheld in the US market in January 2014. Supply will also end in Europe at an unspecified date, although the system is expected to remain available in emerging markets for some time.

PSP has sold over 20 million units to date in its home nation, and worldwide PSP sales have exceeded 80 million units to date.
