Microsoft has inadvertently revealed the numbers of Xbox 360 consoles sold in quarter four of 2011.
It was reported by VentureBeat that Microsoft chief exec Steve Ballmer said that the company had sold more than 66 million units in total. Xbox 360 had sold 57.6 million units as of September 30, that means that 8.4 million consoles were bought in the last quarter of the year.
Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show, Ballmer also revealed that the Kinect has sold more than 10 million units, bringing total sales for motion capture device to more than 18 million.
Ballmer also announced that Kinect will be available to buy for PC as early as February 2.
With Sony today revealing December sales of 3.9 million PS3s, Microsoft has once again demonstrated just how tight the competition is between these two companies, making this years potential E3 demonstrations even more exciting.
