Valve has just confirmed that the release of their Steam Machines - PCs built by a variety of different manufactures to a variety of specifications - has been pushed back into 2015.
In a post on Steam, the current state of development was discussed by way of explanation of the slip into next year.
We're now using wireless prototype controllers to conduct live playtests, with everyone from industry professionals to die-hard gamers to casual gamers. It's generating a ton of useful feedback, and it means we'll be able to make the controller a lot better. Of course, it's also keeping us pretty busy making all those improvements. Realistically, we're now looking at a release window of 2015, not 2014.
Not great news if you were waiting for the Steam Machines in order to make a much needed upgrade to your gaming rig, but if it's to ensure the best experience possible, it's probably for the best and the wait will hopefully be worth it.
