Team 17 has just announced a partnership with indie developers Dlala Studios to release the latter's multiplayer arena brawler, Overruled!, later this year across several different platforms.

The central premise is that it's an arena fighting game where players are constantly changing the rules in order to outdo their opponents (both local and online). Players choose from a variety of characters and use them to chase down high scores by knocking out opponents and accumulating points via different objectives (capture the flag or king of the hill type scenarios).

"It's absolutely mind blowing for us to be able to announce a partnership with Team17. We've known some of the guys for a couple of years and have been playing their games for a couple of decades. They are the perfect partner for Overruled! They understand same room multiplayer better than most and they have a real desire to help us succeed as a studio. To be honest we're incredibly honoured and overwhelmed to be working with them and can't wait for the future!" said Aj Grand-Scrutton CEO and Craig Thomas CCO at Dlala Studios, presumably in tandem.

We've had a chance to play the game, and while it's initially very tricky to get your head around the different variables and changing rules, it starts to get easier quite quickly. After we played the game we spoke to the developers, so expect that interview up on Gamereactor in the coming days.
