EA sees continued trend towards digital

Boxed sales dip as they claim leadership on new-gen consoles.

EA have released their latest financials and while the numbers are down. For the full fiscal year revenue was down 6 percent to $3.58 billion, resulting in mild losses. The company's transition to digital continues as digital revenue climbs while physical revenue drops. EA did highlight some positives including 130 million active monthly players on mobile and the fact that they were the number one publisher in Western markets on PS4 and Xbox One combined with an impressive 40 percent market share.

"It was a transformative year for EA in a dynamic year for our industry," stated EA CEO Andrew Wilson in a press release announcing the results. "I'm even more excited for the new experiences we will deliver in fiscal year 2015 and beyond."

EA also noted that they sold 925,000 copies of Titanfall on PC and Xbox One in three weeks (up until the end of March) in the United States according to NPD numbers and the relationship with Respawn Entertainment will continue under a new publishing agreement.
