It has been revealed that EA's Bright Light studio has been closed down.
The Guildford based studio, responsible for three of the Harry Potter games, was disbanded last year (probably in November). Some staff have been redirected to other EA studios (Criterion and Playfish), whilst others have left to join other studios.
The article, written by website Develop, cited a BBC report from 2007 that EA Bright Light employed roughly 100 people. The site also states that Harvey Elliott, Bright Light's general manager, is no longer working with EA.
Gamesindustry.biz reported back in October that EA had entered into a "formal consultation process" with staff. It seems that an agreement was reached and the company was quickly and quietly closed down.
Despite this not being the first time that the publishing giant has closed down one it's UK based developers (EA Warrington shut down in 2006), EA said in a statement that: "The UK is a vital centre of game development for EA and we intend to maintain a strong presence here."
