Pixels, a video game-based movie starring Adam Sandler, is set to walk down the red carpet on May 15, 2015 (in America, at least).

The film, which stars Sandler alongside Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage, will start filming next month. Chris Columbus is handling directorial duties. The script is to be co-written by Tim Herlihy (The Wedding Singer) and Timothy Dowling (Role Models).

The story is based on a short film by Patrick Jean and One More Production (which can watch here), and it will centre around aliens invading Earth in a manner reminiscent of various video games (and styled as an army of video game characters), with gamers enlisted to deal with the threat. Sounds nicely bonkers.
