Square Enix have closed down their Indian development studio after only a year, laying off all the developers. The idea was for Square Enix India to be a mobile focussed studio, but as they didn't even produce a single demo in twelve months, Square Enix felt there wasn't much point in keeping the doors open.
Yasuhiro Fukushima, honorary chairman of Square Enix and founder of Enix Corporation said of the closure:
"We all know that India is going to be the next big market for games, but no one knows when that push will come."
