With Microsoft maintaining their decision to bundle every Xbox One console with a Kinect sensor, 22cans developer Peter Molyneux has suggested that he believes it to be "unthinkable" that the platform holder won't one day release a version of the console without one.

"I actually wish Kinect wasn't a requirement," Molyneux told Edge. "It feels like an unnecessary add-on to me. Maybe it's because we're in England, and it doesn't really use the TV stuff, but it feels more and more like a joke. My son and I sit there saying random things at it, and it doesn't work."

The former Lionhead boss continued: "They could cost-reduce it [by removing Kinect]. I'm sure they're going to release an Xbox One without Kinect. It would be unthinkable that they wouldn't."

It's not unusual for Peter Molyneux to appear in the media after making comments such as this. Recently he suggested that the current popularity of indie games was a phase that will pass, although we found plenty of indie devs who disagreed with that notion.
