In a somewhat surprising move EA have announced that Bruce Lee will join the EA Sports UFC roster as a pre-order bonus. Dubbed the "original mixed martial artist" by some, Bruce Lee obviously never competed inside the Octagon, and some will no doubt find his addition odd.
Creative director Brian Hayes had the following to say about the choice to add Bruce Lee to the game on the official EA Sports site:
"I feel like this is the most ridiculous question. Why put Bruce Lee in a UFC game? It's. Bruce. Lee...
You have the premier organization in the fastest growing sport in the world, the UFC; and the most iconic martial artist in the history of the world, Bruce Lee - a martial artist renowned for his philosophies that laid the groundwork for modern mixed martial arts. I can't conceive of a universe where bringing these two things together doesn't make sense. I know there are going to be countless fans that feel the exact same way and they will be eager play with such a legend in the UFC Octagon. I am one of them."
You can get Bruce Lee in one of two ways - either as an instant unlock by pre-ordering the game at participating retailers or by completing career mode on pro difficulty or higher.
Bruce Lee will be playable as a flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight.
Although not officially announced in-store promotion put the North American release of the game down as June 17, which would typically mean a European release on June 20.
