But Pitchford is making noises to suggest it isn't going to be Borderlands 3.

Randy Pitchford has been back on Twitter, teasing us about one Gearbox Studio's upcoming titles. When asked by one fan when an Xbox One game was coming from the company, the studio co-founder replied: "We're working on next-gen. Platforms TBD. We'll probably announce something later this year.

In the hours that followed the Tweet, a number of outlets posted news pieces suggesting that this announcement might turn out to be Borderlands 3. Pitchford dispelled that notion with another Tweet, criticising outlets for covering the matter: "Ever wondered how to fabricate a "news" story from arbitrary, disconnected comments and tweets?" he said, linking on the news pieces in question.

Just last month Pitchford revealed that Borderlands 3 wasn't in development: "We love Borderlands, and we know customers do too. So we will be doing more in Borderlands. But the thing that, when you think of what Borderlands 3 should be... No. We are not developing that right now."
