Roll7, the indie studio that launched OlliOlli last year, has just announced a new game. Not a Hero is a new action platformer that's heading to PC and next-gen consoles, and is set to be published by Devolver Digital.
"The Roll7 team was less than enthused about partnering with a publisher of questionable morals and hygiene but through a series of legal maneuvers and old fashioned black magic here we are - stuck with Devolver Digital," noted Roll7 creative director, John Ribbins.
There's a couple of unique features that means Not A Hero a little different. Most obviously it's a 2D cover shooter, and there aren't too many of them around. The studio are also describing it as 2¼D, and according to the press release it's powered by ISO-Slant technology.
Devolver Digital front man and eternal font of knowledge, Fork Parker, said: "We are so glad to have partnered with the ISO-Slant™ team™. While there are plenty of tools for 2D and 3D game development, if your ass wants some 2¼D action write that check for ISO-Slant™, baby."
We got hands-on with the game at a recent event, and enjoyed what we saw (although we died quite a lot). Not A Hero is expected to land on PC and consoles in "Fall 2014".
