11 bit studios (the Anomaly series) has just announced their new IP, and it has a most interesting premise.
This War of Mine puts players in the midst of a war, controlling a group of civilians trying to stay alive in the midst of the fighting.
The title, which is inspired by real-world events, forces players to be mindful of the environment around them, crafting while they shelter and feed their characters, scavenging at night.
"This can happen in your city, in your country," said lead designer Michal Drozdowski. "While designing a new game, we came across an article that described how one man survived in a besieged city. We learned about his hardships and the horror of that experience. We decided to work around this idea and make something real, something that moves people and make them think for a second. It's about time that games, just like any other art form, start talking about important things."
No word on when we can expect this interesting survival title for PC, but it's going to be shown at this year's GDC so expect more news soon.
