Despite selling more games in 2013 than in the previous year, Sony's platforms still couldn't compete with Xbox when it came to software sales last year.
GfK Chart-Track data (reported by MCV) states that in the UK, PlayStation platforms (PS4, PS3, PS2, PSP and PS Vita) sold a combined total of 11.4 million titles - that's an increase of 1.8 percent over 2012. Better still was the rise in revenue, a 15.2 percent increase that translated to £372 million, helped in no small part by the increased cost of PlayStation 4 games.
Xbox platforms still lead the way, however, with 14.4 million games sold. While representing a 6.5 percent drop from the number of titles sold in 2012, Microsoft still managed to generate revenue of around £458 million (itself a 2.1 percent decline).
And sitting in third place remains Nintendo. Games sold for the company's four platforms (Wii, DS, Wii U and 3DS) dropped to just 6 million, a 35.5 percent drop (2012 saw them sell 9.3 million), meaning a 27.6 percent drop of revenue (which now rests at £142 million).
