It was a bit of a surprise when Borderlands creators Gearbox Software picked up the rights to Relic's Homeworld franchise following the demise of THQ. They quickly revealed plans to remaster the two critically acclaimed original games and now some further details have been revealed via the official website.

The remastered editions "includes updated high-res textures and models, new graphical effects, and support for HD, UHD, and 4K resolutions. Homeworld's original audio and video artists have also recreated cinematic scenes in beautiful high fidelity", but you'll also get the classic editions of the game when purchasing the Homeworld Remastered Collection.

There is also going to be a physical collector's edition and Gearbox are polling visitors to the official website on whether they want a small (6") or big (12") replice of the Mothership as part of the package.

The Homeworld Remastered Collection will be available soon via pre-order on "leading PC digital platforms" - which means Steam presumably.
