Danish developers Interceptor Entertainment, who recently put out the remade Rise of the Triad, have announced they are buying up Apogee/3D Realms. Recently both Interceptor and 3D Realms were sued by Gearbox Software over an infriction of the Duke Nukem property as Interceptor are developing a new game Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction.

While Apogee/3D Realms has back catalogue titles like Commander Keen, Duke Nukem and Shadow Warrior to their name it should be noted the many of the rights to said games are with Apogee Software, LLC (a spin-off company created in 2008).

The idea behind the deal is to relaunch 3D Realms as a brand. It remains to be seen what happens with these plans and with the legal troubles.
