The voice of Master Chief, Steve Downes, has confirmed that Halo 2 is in the works and that Halo 5 is likely to release in 2015.

In an interview on Gamezone the actor confirmed that Halo 2: Anniversary was going to be next Halo title out the gate: "I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5. I wouldn't expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2."

There's been a lot of speculation surrounding Halo 2: Anniversary and Halo 5, and which would come first. While an Xbox One reboot of Bungie's sequel hasn't been officially confirmed by Microsoft, it's looking increasingly likely that it's going to happen.

Now it seems that, with this revelation from Downes, we can expect to revisit Halo 2 by the end of this year. Whether this re-release will include the speculated beta access for Halo 5 remains to be seen, but if it is and the voice of Master Chief is correct in his 2015 prediction, it's likely we'll be continuing the Forerunner trilogy sooner rather than later.
