Valve has introduced a new update on Steam whereby gamers will be able to see which games have recently been updated.

The ‘Recently Updated' section on Steam highlights older titles that have had new content/features added, with the overall aim of the new system being to extend a game's discoverability over a longer period of time.

"The more options developers have for communicating about their products, the better it is for everyone," says Tom Bui of Valve in this post. "With this new product section and corresponding developer tools, customers can more easily discover products that provide ongoing value and involvement from the developers."

It's an ongoing problem for the industry - developers and critics alike - as games are increasingly becoming an evolution, improving over time. Hopefully this new system will allow improving games additional time in the limelight, revealing which titles have been updated and maintained, explaining which new features have been added and offering potential reasons for new gamers to jump onboard.

You can see which games have been recently updated here, and there's a new tab on the Steam frontpage that offers a smaller, but high profile insight into which titles have new content/features.
