Steam Music Beta coming soon
Valve has announced that they're planning on releasing a new music-related feature for Big Picture and SteamOS soon (with desktop features set to follow thereafter), as they continue to push towards their invasion of the living room space.
Th Steam Music Beta will give gamers the chance to access their music collections while they're playing games on Steam. By pointing Steam to your local music directory you'll be able to access your digital collection via the "Guide" button on the Steam Controller, and it'll also be accessible via the Steam overlay when you're playing.
The Steam Music page explains: "With this beta, we're getting started with what we believe to be the most fundamental set of features to offer a great music listening experience within Steam. As always, our next steps for the feature will be influenced by your beta feedback, so please share your feature requests, thoughts, and experiences in the music discussions. Happy listening!"
