High Street retailers took a whopping £600 million last month, thanks to strong software sales alongside the release of the two new next-gen consoles.
According to figures revealed by MCV, the total number taken by retailers was £605.5m. According to GfK Chart-Track stats, software made up £265.4m of that total, with consoles making up the rest of that figure.
The original article doesn't say how much money was made by the consoles alone (some of it will be attributed to the sale of peripherals), and there's no division between platforms, but MCV states that over 1.25 million consoles were sold in December, impressive numbers considering the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 both launched in November.
