It's been a fantastic launch for PlayStation 4, with Sony's next-gen console outselling Xbox One and leading in markets around the world. It hasn't, however, been without incident. There were issues regarding PSN, which for the most part have been fixed and are no longer a problem, but another issue has presented itself and it looks altogether more serious.
Basically, increasing amounts of gamers are reporting that the rubber grips on the analog sticks of the PS4's new DualShock 4 control are degrading at an alarming rate. Within just a few weeks of the launch of the new console, it appears that some controllers are not able to hold up to extended use.
Whether this is just a design flaw in the first batch of controllers (or even a more serious problem that will eventually affect all controllers made so far), remains to be seen. It's not clear how widespread the problem is.
As you can see from the pictures that were sent into Gamereactor by one user, there's clear wear and tear on the analogue sticks. Another image, which you can see on the PlayStation community forum, shows the rubber actually splitting. Worst of all is the picture of the controller belonging to Gamereactor's own Ricardo Esteves. Not great from a controller with a retail price of around £60.
