It was revealed a couple of days ago that Lego have toysets with The Simpsons in development (leaked or rumoured at least), and now Gamespot are speculating that a video game based on the toyset is forthcoming. It's not a massive stretch of the imagination as other toylines such as Lego Batman, Lego Star Wars, Lego Lord of the Rings and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean have materialised as video games.
There hasn't been a big budget video game based on The Simpsons since 2007's The Simpsons Game from EA, but EA have been enjoying a lot of success in the mobile space with The Simpsons: Tapped Out. Remains to be seen if rights can be sorted so TT Games can go to work on a Lego Simpsons video game. It sure sounds like a great idea.
