Nintendo reveals Hyrule Warriors on Wii U

Collaboration with Tecmo Koei for a different kind of Zelda game.

Satoru Iwata kicked of today's Nintendo Direct presentation by announcing Hyrule Warriors (provisional title) a Dynasty Warriors style title developed in collaboration with Tecmo Koei.

The game will make use of characters, weapons and the likes from the Legend of Zelda universe while retaining the gameplay stylings of the "Warriors" franchise from Tecmo Koei.

This certainly sounds like a game that could do well in Japan, and perhaps open the Warriors style of game to a larger Western audience. Hyrule Warriors is set for release in 2014.
