Sam Lake, the lead writer at Remedy Entertainment, has revealed some gameplay details regarding the Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break, at the same time as discussing the possible return of Alan Wake.

"We are using episodic series pacing for the story telling, but it still ships on one disc. Everything, both the game and the show," " Lake told Polygon. "And the idea is they are meant to be consumed together, and the idea is that you first play through an act of the game and then you get to watch an episode of the show."

He then went on to explain how the two were connected: "Acts of the game are interwoven with episodes of the show. What we have there as connecting tissue are these moments of choice related to the fiction of time powers."

"Our bad guy in the game has the most powerful time powers of all, and he has this ability, this junction ability, where he can see glimpses of different futures, different timelines. It's almost like a dynamic player-created cliffhanger at the end of each act."

Lake continued: "You get to explore these glimpses and visions of two different futures, and you make a choice as to which comes to be. And from that we shift into an episode of the show. From the first scene you'll get alternate content depending on the choice you've made."

Later on in the same interview, Lake explained that Remedy had one eye on a potential return for Alan Wake, but insisted that they would produce the game when the time was right: "We love Wake, and we are constantly looking for opportunities and talking about possibilities of what we could do with Wake."

"I would definitely love to do more Wake, but it needs to be something that we feel is absolutely the right thing for Wake and the bar is high enough and this is really going to be cool. Not just doing it at the cost of making something that's not as top notch as it should be. So, time will tell," he concluded.
